Gentle beginnings in our baby room

Baby Room — 1:3 Ratio

Our baby room is for children aged from 1 month to 2 years. It offers a wide range of play opportunities focused on the EYFS prime areas of development:

  • Personal, social and emotional development
  • Communication and Language
  • Physical development

Children under two learn best through sensory exploration, so we provide varied experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, and early development.

The room includes role play, small world play, story areas, and a variety of general play spaces.

Discovery and curiosity for toddlers and preschool

Toddler Room — 1:5 Ratio

The toddler room is for children aged 2 to 3 years.

This room gives children access to a wide range of natural and open-ended resources, encouraging imagination, independence, and play with familiar materials.

It includes stories and puppets, construction and small world resources, a role play area, and patio doors that support free-flow access to outdoor play.

Preschool Room — 1:8 Ratio

The preschool room is for children aged 3 to 5 years. It supports children’s development across the EYFS prime areas, as well as the specific areas of learning:

These include:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Expressive arts and design
  • Understanding the world 

Children have access to sand, water, creative and messy play, as well as opportunities for mark making, early mathematics, literacy, and early ICT skills.

Fresh air in our outdoor garden

Outdoor learning is central to life at Bears House. Our secure outdoor garden allows children of all ages to run, climb, investigate nature, and engage their physical confidence whatever the season.
